3-D printing

So far, it seems pretty durable. It doesn’t really sound like a traditional reed, though. In my opinion, it has a much richer tone. The nice thing about this reed is that you don’t have to break it in. Breaking in a wooden reed involves a lot of work.
And I'm thinking this won't be as prone to splitting or chipping.

Hey 3D printing friends!!!

Short version: I'm about to pull the trigger on the Bambu Labs H2S combo.
I Read the long version and I say go for it. I really like the idea of a larger print bed and while like you said probably duel extruders are not a must they will be nice if you need them. I will say that the AMS is kind of a pain unless you are using the spools that bambu sells (or a few others) but it is really a mess with cardboard spools. I tend not to use mine unless I need to because of that. I also hate how much the multi color prints waste and so often chose not to.

As far as bambu being less open than a lot of other printers I personally excuse it because they just work. To me it was a question of if my hobby was 3d printing things I wanted or getting the 3d printer to work. I decided I wanted to make things, not have the actual act of 3d printing as a hobby. If you think of it as an apple computer vs a Linux computer it makes more sense to me. One just works but is restrictive the other can maybe do more and is might be cheaper/better but you need to spend time to get it there.

I support your decision to get the H2S and will be jealous. Please let me know how awesome it is so I can convince the wife I need one :)

Ya, That explains why there are so many spool rewinders on the net these days!

I am concerned that might be my situation as well.

I've mostly had Creality printers, and appreciate the openness of them. Ironically, I've always been a bit anti-Apple computers because of their walled garden.

... but here I am, considering the printer version of Apple. LOL!

Will do!

I have always been very anti-apple because of that and because a good friend of mine lived near the apple/foxcon factory in China and always would talk about how bad it was. But yeah here I am supporting Bambu.

I havent really looked into Bambu printers. Ive done a lot of research on my printer but its a Creality and i wouldnt buy it again for how much i print.

Picked up one of these:

https://www.sunlu.com/products/fila...plicer-weldable-to-pla-abs-petg-pcl-pa-and-pc

Works "OK", but it's a bit fiddly. I do have a few hundred meters of mixed PLA on a half spool though. I can use it for prototyping and test prints, and get rid of a bunch of spools of "not really enough to do anything with" PLA I had taking up space.

Probably worth the 39 bucks I paid for it, even if it isn't as easy as they make it look in the instructions.

BTW, what are y'all using as filament dryers and storage these days?

For me:
  • Dryer: Rarely need one, but when I do, a food dehydrator.
  • Storage:
    • Vac-bags with ziploc type seal on the top and either a hand pump or electric pump to vacate the air. I also put desiccant in with the filament.
    • Air-tight plastic storage boxes with a ton of desiccant
  • Desiccant: I use the blue-to-pink silica gel beads, and I put them in the microwave on low to recharge them. Gotta be careful not to get them too hot.
I also have a bunch of the cheap digital humidity meters in all my boxes. Usually hovering between 10% - 20%
