3 Legged Chick

You should call Animal Planet...they have a show called Weird,True, and Freaky. They put stuff like that on there all the time. Tripod could be famous.
P.S Everyone click on the eggs on my scroll!

I called McMurrays today and told them what they had sent me, the lady was very nice and apologized sincerely for it, she said not to let that influance my opinion of them. They issued me a credit for the chick, not that I was really wanting it.

On the chick note, she is doing well, except she has a VERY messy behind. I keep cleaning it, and make sure its not clogged up back there, but its really nasty. Like a greenish ooze around the area of her poop exit and the 3rd leg. I am assuming the ooze is not an effect of the leg?

Do you have a vet that can remove the extra leg? Is it even an option? This is very interesting. If I ever get one I would explore that option so it doesn't have to carry it around it's whole life and I have read post threads and on other forums about 3 leggers and most don't seem to live a long life and the extra leg shrivels up some. If other animals can have their legs amputated why not a chick?

WoW! Isn't she awesome! Yup, she's a definite keeper!

We had that problem for a while too. Just make sure that she stays clean until she figures out how to hold her leg. Tripod kept her leg tucked real tightly to her belly most of the time before her atrophy, which cleared some room for her vent.

Chickenthief; How old is your girl now and do you have any current pics?

I took the pic I posted was only taken about a month ago. She was born in May, so she is about 7 months old.
