-30 degrees in pennsylvania next week

I think this depends on the breed. I feel the Khakis would do much better then the Indian Runners. It hit -55 here, I didn't chance it and they are all inside. I do believe they will be inside during winters going forward. They swim in the tub daily, have soft blankets and I keep it at 50-55 for them. They quack when the water gets to cold and then I change it for them. They are not spoiled by any means...lol

my ducks made it lol i did end up having to put a heat lamp in there because they got into their water bowl and were frozen solid, well their feathers were so i heated blankets up in the dryer and hubby and i were literally sitting in the duck house wednesday night thawing their feathers out...to day its 22 so i left them out to get some tasty treats and put a little water in the very small pool so they could all get theri meal worms and now 4 of them have frozen feathers again ughhh i would love to just let my ducks roam around the house but i have 2 dogs that would always want to lick them to death and i dont think the ducks would like that much and my hubby wouldnt either....i even told him that i would put diapers on them ha ha but nope he wont go for it...so im leaving the heat lamp on for 1 more night since they were stubborn and had to get wet and i will have to go out about every 20 min for an hour to see if they are thawing or i will be sitting in the duck house thawing feathers once again....this time i was smart and put a smaller bowl inside the large bowl so they cant bathe in the drinking water

my ducks are also spoiled but i dont have them in my dining room....mine get meal worms, peas, cabbage, cucumber, and tomatoes everyday unless they cant come outside the house due to straw getting to wet from tomatoes and such...i had my hurt duck in my bathroom for about a month and all day long id change the water for him to soak but he didnt like it when he was the only one so i would have to bring a female in with him during the day until it got to cold to keep switching her from warm to cold weather and i put a mirror in with him and let me tell you...he would yell at that mirror half the night lol...he is now back outside with the other 9 ducks so hes happy...still limping a bit but no more infection in the joint thank god

From what I understand from the weather forecast the polar vortex is going to pass by tomorrow and things will warm up some.
I feel so badly for all of you and your animals who are suffering through this .... hang in there!
Been praying for y’all. Stay out of the bitter winds. Keep hydrated. Be dry and warm & safe.
:hugs

I thought of using a heat bulb in the cold snap, but our electric in the duck house is low voltage, and I wouldn’t have slept in fear of fire.
