3rd Annual NYD Hatch "Designer" Egg Swap Thread

DC # goes to SuperChemicalGirl. I'm shipping tomorrow. 2 boxes going opposite directions.
I've had eggs take 5+ days to reach their destination. Most are 2-3 days, but this is the Holiday Season with extra packages being sent.

Uugh! Have my 6 eggs all wrapped up and ready to ship. First time shipper means I'm assuming it isn't wrapped well enough and they are all gonna crash and smash. I've put them in a smaller box, thinking a smaller box wouldn't get stacked on, but now I'm thinking a smaller box will get tossed more. Sigh

Probably doesn't matter how I pack it, no method will stop the "what ifs."

and Do I write "Fragile" or will it get treated better if I write nothing??

I stressed less over shipping the horse two states through a blizzard than shipping these not much value eggs!

Fragile is up to you. I write fragile: embryos. Figure the medical term makes it more legit. Also if you mail from your big hub post office (like I drive to Augusta) they get there faster and safer.

I shipped my eggs today....making a cross county trip. My PO only has 1 truck a day at 5-5:30 pm. And I am also allowing for the holidays.
I write Fragile & Hatching eggs on my boxes.

Mine are going across country starting today as well! Praying they get there in time and in one piece! This is nerve wracking stuff!!

I'm shipping my two "6 packs" tomorrow. These eggs were gathered yesterday and today and I am also stressing about packaging them right tonight. Also, there's gonna be nine instead of six in each package, mostly LF eggs but a few banty eggs too. I won't be marking the eggs.... 'cause my flock just ranges freely and also breeds freely. VERY "surprise" eggs.

Label?? My designers are labeless, even I don't know what they are! They are dated, hope that is good enough.


Got them down to a local PO, so hopefully they are headed to the airport on their way to the other side of the country. Sniff, sniff, who'd ever guess such muttley hens (and roo) would be able to send thier offspring to a better state??

I also prayed over the box... postal intervention is a good thing, yes?

lol. Sure hope my packing was sufficent... Ended up putting horrid christmas drawings on the box along with the words fragile... Hopefully upset postal workers won't take their anger out on a badly decorated box during the christmas season.

Starting to toss my eggs into the 'bator (not turned on).

Label... you know... chicken or emu? That way those that aren't as schooled as gryeyes can tell them apart.
