4 dogs attacked my flock killed 40 of my ducks/hens and a beautiful red silver laced Wyandotte rooster

I’m asking for help to rebuild. The dogs owner is refusing to admit fault. I just want to put this past me and if y’all have any fertile eggs you can donate I’d appreciate it.

File a police report - even if you don't plan to pursue it. The paper trail will be invaluable, should the problem arise again ... and unfortunately, it will.

Laying hens should go for more like $20 to $25/hen depending on the breed. My dental tech told me two days ago she paid $75/ea for some kind of Brahmas, don't know if that included shipping.

I’m asking 100$ per laying Indian runner female. 75$ per male. The dogs killed my small bantam flock rooster and all I’m asking 25$ for each killed and 75$ for my speckled Sussex. 35$ for per rooster and 5$ per chick I spent 3 years building a beautiful flock and she was trying to give some of her ugly bald chickens with bumblefoot and she wanted to buy me some random ducks when I told her I want what I lost and the exact number she told me I wasn’t getting anything and I was stupid for spending so much.

Sorry, I didn't finish my thought. They need to make sure your police officers are doing their job. Send a copy to the police chief and another to your local news station's Investigative team. The squeaky wheel and all that. And mark on the Chief of Police's letter (on all of them really) who all are getting all these copies. Document EVERYTHING including any contact you had with the dogs' owners. But do not contact them directly, verbally again. Do everything in writing. If it was me, I would get an attorney. This sounds like the Good-old-boy network at work.

Check your state laws. In many states it is illegal for dogs to harass livestock. You could threaten to sue your city if your cops do not do anything about this. They need to cite the neighbor with the dogs and they can give her a demand for repercussions. Even if she has no money, if she doesn’t pay the cite, it will all go to court and you will receive the money from the court. Ask me how I know all of this

I wish I had fertilized eggs right now, I would send you some! If you have local poultry pages on fb, that is a great place to ask for eggs, as they wouldn’t have to go through shipping, and would probably do better with the incubation. So sorry this happened to you!

Edited to add: if your state laws say that it is illegal for dogs to harass livestock, you legally have a right to shoot them the next time you see them on your property. If you have a way to trap them on your property, you could also do that and take them straight to the shelter or have the animal control pick them up and take them. And every time you see them on your property call the police. You want everything documented!!

So sorry for your loss. I would try to build a predator proof coop and large run, but the dogs may continue to be a problem if they are still around. A game camera would be helpful to capture them on your property. It might be better to start out smaller at first.

It was predator proof from the bottom. And it had shade sails from the top. These dogs climbed a 7ft chain link fence and then climbed an 6ft chain link fence into the duck pens at night. Then they broke WOODEN boards in and crushed the the wire mesh. It looked like they broke everything with hammers. It looked like a tornado hit. It was pit bulls and a German shepherd

I'm really sorry for your loss.

Unfortunately, now that the dogs know there's "lunch" nearby, they will continued to be interested and want to return. If you want to start rebuilding a flock, you'll really want to make sure you have a coop and run that will keep them safe from the dogs.
