Took some pictures of the milk cows, both purebred jerseys, today. Dakota definently isn't the best looking cow but she definently has the best personality. She may calve within the month as she is bagging up.

That is a Jersey cow.. some describe their beef(fattened steers) as the most marbled beef and with a buttery flavor... have you had the chance of eating Jersey beef?

No as we just got Dakota last April and Stella was the first calf out of her born here. She was bred to our nice thick Angus Bull so we are hoping for a steer. We've heard they taste really good

Here's the final run down of what I'm getting today

Today I am getting two turken hens, a crested Swedish flower hen, a Swedish Flower hen rooster three young Bresse hens and a Roo (these birds are white, nothing too exciting but they are known to be the most amazing meat birds ever), Bielefelder Rooster, and hen. They closely resembles a cream legbar but the hens lay big brown eggs. Bielefleders are a breed that could revolutionize the chicken industry in America), an Isbar×Svart Hona hen and rooo (these are only cool because of the fibro gene they have black feet so may have black meat and bones), and then a couple of chocolate Orpington Roos. waterers, plastic feeding bowls, an incubator. A nice big kennel, a big bunch of netting for top of runs a couple of cages for transport, etc.

I know! I'm so happy for you! Can't wait to see them!

Good morning everyone!
Lots of crowing this morning from the chickens.
All together I've got 14 new birds. No pictures yet.
1× Bielefelder Rooster, Archie
1× Bielefelder Hen, Edith
1× Icelandic Rooster
1× Icelandic Hen
1× Bresse Rooster
3× Bresse Hens
1× Swedish Flower Hen Rooster
1× Swedish Flower Hen Hen
1× Svart Hona x Isbar Rooster
1x Svart Hona x Isbar Hen,
1× Naked Neck Hen
1× Naked Neck x Maran Hen

Edith does have a bloody spot on her foot and she is limping because of it. The lady also gave me some blue kote so I put that on her foot. The Bresse Rooster had the longest crow I have ever heard!!! He does the different pitches and then holds the last one forever I swear! The Swedish Flower Hen Hen is pretty beat up right now, hopefully she will grow all of her feathers back quickly. My younger sisters favorite is the Svart Hona x Isbar hen. My favorite is Archie he is such a big loveable boy. The Swedish Flower Hen, Svart Hona x Isbar and Icelandic Rooster are little schiesters, they keep trying to fight with Archie, the Svart Hona x Isbar Sonar and the Swedish Flower Hen Roosters were out put in extra cages for the day while I'm not there watching them.

I also got a 42 eggs Styrofoam Auto turning bator from her, my mom picked up a 50 egg antique hand turner for free in Fergus Falls and then I have my Brinses that fits 24 eggs so now I can set 116 eggs at a time!
My dad wants me to start setting Bresse eggs ASAP to try and sell some to some Foodies.
And here's something funny i sent to a friend last night when she asked what I do with all my chickens and how many I need

All of the roosters except the Icelandic and Svart Hona×Isbar lost their comb this winter. They will still make good breeders though.
And all the hens are beat up because they were with a LOT of roosters.
