My name is Jenn and I have a six acre hobby farm in CT. I have been a 4-H leader for two years. We are a goat club, and I have six goats on the property , three which are 4-H project goats for three club members. I started with chickens about 1 1/2 years ago to supply us with fresh eggs. Barred rocks, Black Austrolorp and buff Orpingtons. Last fall a woman contacted the club. She had three Sebastopol geese she was looking to rehome, two males and one female. The second female had been killed by a coyote, and she realized she couldn't keep them safe. So now, after locating a second female this past December, the club is doing a goose project!

Thank you! I feel very blessed to have been able to purchase this property 4 years ago with an existing 10 stall barn that we have been adapting to mixed use. Currently I have six goats, two who are due in March!, 5 chickens ( just lost one to a predator about a week ago ) two horses and two dogs in addition to the geese

wow, it sounds like you are having lots of fun. I apparently had misconceptions about 4-H, well that or basically no one ever explained what is really behind it. now that I have 2 kids, we've gotten into it and been really surprised at how rich it is! I never knew what the 4-H's were and now that my kids are getting into it I can't think of anything better for them than head, heart, hands, health! clearer thinking, greater loyalty, larger service, and better living are all principles that we cherish, yay for 4-H and yay for you being a leader!
