Ok. I gave all the affected birds the meds... I'll do it often. I hope this helps. Makes me feel better that two of the isa browns are eating on their own

Three EXPERIENCED members have recommended Corid to the OP and NOT tylan. Tylan has no effect on protozoa, most likely what the OP is dealing with. Tylan is used primarily for respiratory diseases in poultry, specifically MG/MS and can be used in conjunction with sulfa drugs against Infectious Coryza. The OP hasnt mentioned anything about respiratory symptoms. Giving antibiotics when not needed without regard to building resistance to the product in the future is careless and dangerous. One step at time.
Additionally tylan is harsh in young chicks and can harm not fully developed organs and definitely cause diarrhea. It would put an unnecessary stress on their system and it can damage muscles if injected.

From my own experience this cured my chicks as they may also have a bacterial infection at the same time and every time a chick gets sick does not mean it has cocidiosis! My chicks were acting the same way and the corid did not help them but the tylan did! It can be used to treat other things besides mg or ms buy the way. My avian vet gave me this info herself its also used to treat ecoli and samonella infections and yes the injectable form may be hard on them I also said it whould be easier to administer it orally

Good!so did you buy both the corid and tylan? Are u using the soluble kind? After 48 hours you should see some improvment in your chicks,I'm glad to hear the two are able to eat and drink on there own but give them meds with the siringe at least for today as it will start to work faster.you will not have bacterial risistance issues with your chicks you whould have to use this antibiotic many times and not follow the rcomended time fram of use for this to happen. So they are on corid just in case its coccidiosis and on the tylan, this is better then just waiting to see if this is coccidia because your chicks are weak and may not have the time to try things one at a time. Just keep doing what you're doing and after the medication is done you can start them on a probiotic supplement let me know how they are making out

Whitster290, I recommend that you use only Corid to treat your chicks. Tylan is an antibiotic that is used in serious respiratory diseases--it is one that you should not give without a good reason. If your chicks are not coughing, sneezing, rattling when breathing, or having eye or nasal drainage, there is not a good reason to give antibiotics. As Dawg53 wisely pointed out, bacteria can become resistant to antibiotics, and later if you need Tylan, it may not work. Never mix 2 drugs in water together unless the label says it is safe. Are your chicks still drinking the water? They may need to be syringe-fed if they are too weak to drink. Good luck.

I have already mixed thease to drugs in water and before I did it I called a avian vet to ask them if it was safe and if there were any drug interactions my chickens are still with me 3 years later and giving tylan once for a one time course of treatment will not cause any kind of antibiotic resistance whatsoever! Tylan will not harm thease chicks at all,it could save there lives though,my chicks had no sighns of resperatory disease either as I said it is used to treat bacterial infections and mg or ms fall in the class of a bacteria,my vet said could use this and even at 3x the strength it whould not cause an overdose.

When did you mix tylan and corid? It wasnt in this thread was it? Three years ago?

I can assure you that there IS bacterial resistance to tylan in poultry if used indiscriminately, just like there's antibiotic resistance in humans. I'm sure you're heard about it in the media.

Look why are you trying to contradict everything I am saying, this is not coming from me personally its coming from my avian vet where I take my birds I have been with this vet for 2 years just last year used the combination of corrid and tylan with no problems under her advice.I am not just telling people what to do for the sake of doing so I myself love my chickens and I have spent over 2 thousand dollars on my polish hen as we speak, but some people will not even take them to a vet even if they are suffering, when a chick is holding its head down like this and can barely move around and eat and drink it is already showing sighns of death so if we don't have a sensitivity culture done of at least a fecal flotation to rule out coccidia then we can all only guess. Even corrid can cause resistant protazoa if used every time you think you may have coccidiosis, the point is this is what is available to the op to try they are not going to a vet and a one time use of tylan will not cause resistance.resistance happens over a prolonged use and often a miss use of an antibiotic ,like not following throught with the number of days recomended, giving a lower then required dose ectra. At this point this person has nothing to lose if it were me whould go to see my vet to do a blood test, I also recomended baytril but I don't think the op can get this so they really have nothing to lose but to try.if it dosent work then it most likley means that the bacteria involved were not suseptible to this antibiotic and another one should be tryed best thing whould be for the op to get blood work done and if white blood cells were elevated you can be sure it whould be due to an infection
