My daughter said that he has pooped today, though yesterday we didn't see any at all. Hes been seperated for 2 days now. The poop was loose and green, but she thinks thats due to the Rooster Booster as it gives a green tint to the water.Ever since you've had him separated you've never seen him poop?
Does he have trouble pooping? My daughter said that he has pooped today, though yesterday we didn't see any at all. Hes been seperated for 2 days now. The poop was loose and green, but she thinks thats due to the Rooster Booster as it gives a green tint to the water.
He has been eating and drinking today, definitely an improvement from yesterday. He did poop today, and it was loose and green, though my daughter thinks that is due to the Rooster Booster we started him on yesterday. It gives the water that lime green water. Still no crowing today, and he has been laying down all day in the "hospital coop". We tried to check his crop, mouth, etc but he really did not like that. He won't let me get around him, he's always been that way and these are my daughters birds, so as long as he is nice to her I am cool with it. But she tried and he really didn't like it. Im staying a bit more positive today, since I saw him eat and drink a lot. I will feel better once he crows again. He may just not be crowing because he doesn't feel well. That would be my best guess on that. My only other guesses would be either respiratory or possibly a blockage, but I'm not sure how likely either of those would be if there's no respiratory symptoms. Have you checked inside his mouth and throat?
If he really hasn't pooped at all since you separated him, my concern would be some sort of blockage somewhere, whether that's constipation or something else. If there is a blockage, that could have been pressing on something, which could possibly explain the purple on the comb. The fastest way to tell if he is pooping if you aren't seeing him poop would be to keep him by himself in a completely clean area and wait for a little bit. I usually use a dog crate lined with paper towel for this, but anything works as long as there is no other chicken poop or chickens there - you want to be able to verify that any poop is from that specific chicken. There may be other methods but this is something that works for me.
What is his appetite like? I would also definitely check his crop to make sure there isn't an issue there.
I haven't been on due to a family emergency. He seemed like he was doing better, but yesterday we found lice/mites on him. So we did the whole flock to be sure (the chicken powder stuff) but my daughter just came in crying and said his legs are paralyzed. I don't even know what to do.How is he?
