Oh sad... that's my only Serama Bantam egg...Looks like a pretty clear blood ring to me. That mean that baterica has invaded the egg and no, there isn't hope, but I would leave it in for another day just to be on the safe side.

I stopped at my local post office on Friday to buy stamps for Christmas cards. I figured I would just ask them to check for my shipped eggs too, just in case they came in on a later delivery. They didn't have anything there for me. This morning I got a call that my eggs where there and I could go pick them up! They get so much mail this time of year she was working on a Sunday and remembered I had stopped in asking about eggs on Friday! So nice of her to think to call and let me pick them up today instead of waiting for them to be delivered by the mail carrier tomorrow!![]()
So now I have 12 partridge penendeseca eggs resting. I ordered them from mypetchicken, looks like Gabbard farms supplies this breed for them. 14 were sent, one was leaking and another was cracked. Packing wasn't the best, two eggs each in a bubble wrap bag with a small piece of paper towel between to keep them from banging into each other. Not double boxed either like all the eggs I've gotten from people here on BYC, just two layers of large bubble wrap on each side. I candled and it looks like 3 have good air cells and the other 9 are detached. Keeping my fingers crossed on those 9.
Looks like a blood ring to me. Are you incubating them on their sides? That would be a bad egg, good luck with the rest.
ya, I've been incubating them on their sides and turning them three times a day.Looks like a blood ring to me. Are you incubating them on their sides? That would be a bad egg, good luck with the rest.
Sorry.

Yeah, I was actually going out to do my weekly water test when I found them. Then I tested 3 times to make sure the results were accurate. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 0 nitrates, 0 chlorine, soft water (imporves gill fuction), and the ph is about 8. It's pretty alkaline, but I've raised koi for years with that ph with no problems. I'll be calling around to some koi experts to try and figure out what went wrong. From examinating, they all died very suddenly. Like maybe within 4 hours of each other and the 3 I found alive weren't very responsive at first. I've seen many things throughout the years of koi keeping, but I have no idea what happened. Like I said, no signs of bacteria infections, fungal infections, or parasites. They look like they should still be swimming. And the other weird thing is that not a single one of the 30 goldfish that were with the koi in the garage died.
Thanks for trying to help Sally!![]()
Ok, I culled it... broke it open to see, there was no veins or growth at all...ya, I've been incubating them on their sides and turning them three times a day.![]()
Quote: I only asked because of the direction of the blood ring. That would be consistent with incubating on their sides. It makes no difference and had nothing to do with causing a blood ring.
Good luck with the rest.
