4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

How long do you guys wait to throw out eggs that don't appear to be deveoping? I don't trust myself to do it today, but when should I know for sure?

If they are obviously clear, 10 days. Blood rings, as soon as I am sure that it is not weird veins.

Penedesenca and Marans eggs I wait longer--until I am sure they are not getting darker.

I combined the eggs in a nest and the quiche... Used the ham as a liner, then put bacon and mushrooms and cheese in, then dumped the seasoned egg "soup" into the cups. :) I used something like 15 eggs, and still have enough in the fridge for dippy eggs in the morning (two double yolkers, so the kids will only eat "one" egg), plus plenty to make some cookies. I figure I'll do my Grandma's no-bake recipe (no eggs), then some banana chocolate chip cookies (and some regulars). I figure I can fill out xmas presents this way for fairly cheap. I hope my family is okay with a mostly homemade xmas... Cookies, chocolate covered pretzels (debating on how I should decorate them), soaps, candles and bath bombs. Maybe I should bum my mom's brownie bites pan and do some brownie bites to help fill out the cookies. I'd like to do those reese cup cookies, but those dang blasted things cost like $10 for a bag of them!!!

Does anyone have a good brownie recipe that tastes like the boxed recipes and DOESN'T use up an entire container of cocoa powder? I tried my hand at making brownies like six years ago, and they tasted too much like cocoa powder and used a TON of cocoa powder... While I have six or seven pounds of it, it isn't cheap to replace!!!

ETA: If anyone wants my Grandma's no-bake recipe, I can certainly supply it when I find it. Her nickname (which EVERYONE called her, including the priest at her funeral) was Cookie, because of her awesome cooking. She used to make every meal into a feast, because she fed her seven children, plus she fed many, many kids from the community. My cousin used to be the one who kept all of her recipes, until her house burned down and she lost everything (including the recipes), but years later, my step-dad pulled a book out of a cabinet and a little index card fell out with Grandma Cookie's no-bake recipe, written in my childish handwritting, with stains all over it... But that was a prized little index card, worth more to me than an envelope of hundred dollar bills. It's actually in the fire safe at my mom's house, lol.

I'm good, with those gifts you can send some to me. That is mostly what is going to happen with my family. I have been off work since Oct. 14 and am only getting half a paycheck and bills come first. Lucky for me my kids are grown and my family does a White Elephant gift exchange, which is a blast, 15$ max and you can re-gift which is a bonus. We have a nice potluck dinner and some laughs with the exchange. All families should do this, takes the pressure off gift giving. My niece and my daughter, are coming over and we are making cut out cookies, no-bakes and my fav peanut butter kisses, along with some reindeer cake pops ( i thought they were chocolate pops) Christmas is about family and friends, not gifts. The ones from the heart are the best.

I'm so upset and mad at myself! The momma chicken killed the duckling! Why didn;t I just leave it in the incubator or bring it inside to dry out! I cannot believe she killed the poor little thing! I am so sad! Poor, poor little baby! Rest In Peace Little One.

Oh man, that had to be hard to see. I am so sorry.
