4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

Happy early Thanksgiving everyone. I was just wondering if any one could give me some advice? I have eggs coming from Florida to Indiana they were mailed out on Monday they were suppose to arrive today the best the post office could tell me was they are still in route however the last update on usps tracking is when they left Florida on Monday anyone have any idea how long these eggs can travel and still be able to try an hatch them my guess is there lost somewhere between here and there Thanks

As long as they don't freeze they should be fine.

For some reason, eggs I ship to Florida and get from Florida seem to take 4-5 days unless I ship on a Saturday. The other places that take forever for me are Arkansas, Virginia/Eastern Tennessee, and Western New York. Your eggs should be fine, though.

Quote: I'm guessing it's to boost their immune system, but I've brooded chicks in my basement before with no dirt and they grew up perfectly healthy.
I put the chicks on the ground and free range. I do not contain my birds. They have to have resistance or when I do put them on the ground with out exposure you can get into problems with all sorts of things. Bringing in dirt and straw also from the coop with give them a boost so they do not have to go threw such a hard change in a cold climate. It will also eliminate the chance of them getting any form of cocci.

Wish I lived close enough to Mikaela (known to you as RoPo) to knock on her door for eggs.
Hehehe, that's is EXACTLY where my NYD hatch eggs are coming from.

Let's see, I'm getting my incubator from RoPo...and msladyhawke is getting her eggs from her....yet, she's not playing our game!

In PA we incubating for NYD we have:

BlarneyEggs, Pentamom, Wingstone, Patrickschicks, MsLadyHawke, myself, SallySunshine....who else?

Scott,
Hello I'm so glad you joined the hatch, I follow your other thread and have been thinking of you a lot. There are so many things you can do to kick the crap out of the cancer. First and for most, you need to remain positive, and stop stressing out, stress feeds the cancer, meditate,. Change your diet, I think I posted a link, you can still do that stuff, in a cheaper manner. Doctors tend not to talk about Nutrition, I hope your doctor does.  Listen to your body. Feed it right. It sounds like it was found early.  We can be you cheerleaders and positive online support.
