I'm really hoping that the lady I asked to buy Serama eggs from will have some available for the hatch, LOL. It's just not the easiest time of year for eggs! The birds think they should have a vacation too or something?? LOL

I guess Trader Joe's will be my backup, LOL

Two important notes:

1. The member list can be seen here. I am only able to update it every couple of days due to having access to my computer and trying to get ready for my first poultry show.

2. We are setting chicken eggs Dec 11 at noon local time, not Dec 10. If you are not home at noon, you will set as close to noon as you can (but not before)

So that is our own local time right?
Also, I can't really participate in the egg swap because I'm in Canada (border crossing issues for eggs might be an issue), but I can still participate in the hatch-along and related contests right? Who do we let know how many eggs we are setting etc? What if we don't know until we set them? (Yes, this is my first time!)

PS Thanks to those who gave incubator building links. I have managed to secure a hovabator with an egg turner even so I'm all set for this hatch-along!

I'd definitely sponsor with some hatching eggs, but I am in Canada, and I can't ship to the US

I was wondering about that issue since some of the prizes are eggs. Any of us Canadians who won, wouldn't be able to get our prize. Maybe we need a contest for just the Canucks!

Yes you may participate. If we had a couple of our friends North of the border want to swap, I could set that up.

You are more than welcome to participate in the contests. The only thing would be if you won eggs/chicks you may need to donate them to somebody in the States (like your favorite host )

We haven't made the link public for what is getting set yet because nobody knows for sure and if you put what you thought, chances are good it would need to be changed. (Creating a lot of work for us)

I am excited for set day to roll around. We have eggs going in before, on time and after as well. Will hold most of our own eggs for on time setting. Some shipped eggs will be pushing it to arrive in time.

So I'll lurk and live vicariously through you guys.

LOL and I am finally getting eggs from my girls, too!!! Dorkings but there are two Roos...dominant roo is dorking, but the barnevelder is actually starting to be interested in girls.
I wonder what a dorking/barnevelder cross would look like

Maybe one of them will decide to go broody on me before the 11th.


or (!!!) maybe I can incubate an egg in my bra...that's gotta get me some kind of prize if it actuallly hatched out.
