Out of 29 chicken & 14 quail set for the hatch-a-long, I'm down to MAYBE 3 quail left that are viable & all of the chickens quit on me. I really hate moving! Having the bator unplugged for over 2 hours to move it from the old house to the new & then having it sit here in a 40F room for 3 days trying to keep the temps up inside of it with no heat in the house did my poor babies in. Definitely in the running for "Worst Hatch Rate" contest.

On a brighter note, I'm having better development in eggs set since the move. I have 4/9 Serama from Gabrielle developing (delivered clear across the country just before our 1st big snow hit, so not bad considering). I have 4/8 mixed bantams from another swap developing. These arrived 2 days after the Serama DURING the snow storm & sat an extra day at the PO because the mailman didn't leave them on the 1st trip as directed. I pulled a couple eggs from my own eggs that were clear. Apparently my roo has his favorite hens & isn't making the rounds adequately to ALL the girls since all the duds were from the same hen (she's the only LF who lays a cream egg, the others are darker). I also had a couple clears from OEGB pullets who just started laying & 1 from my White Ameraucana pen was a quitter. I have been setting eggs once or twice per week since I set the NYD eggs & had about 4 batches in before for a Christmas Week staggered hatch. Out of the 4 that hatched from those none survived (lost a Scovie & 2 quail during moving & the last chick hatched 3 days late & didn't make it due to leg problems). That was out of 27 scovie eggs, 6 quail & 30+ chicken eggs. The power outage just before the 1st batch was to begin hatching didn't help either. That's probably what got my early quitters on the NYD eggs as well. The move wiped out the rest.

Keeping my fingers crossed for those 3 little quail still in the bator

Well I am down to 2 eggs and no signs yet. I had wondered if there will be a tie brecker in the worst hatch?

Well, thanks for ratting me out, Ms! Lol. Mr, if it's from me, you'll know it when you're ompletely incompasitated for an entire day, then take seemingly forever to get better. I think it took me a week to get some energy back.

Does being to sick to do chores Friday, sleeping all Friday and Saturday, and having no energy sound like it? I blamed my mom but she never had a fever.
