Oh, you have a little chipmunk baby, I love those..probably an EE? Sooo cute! With the sticky chick, once I have washed the goo off, like you have a couple of times, when it drys up again, I just take my fingers and run the feathers back and forth. You will see a lot of fluff fly all over, but you can fluff it up pretty good by giving her a good run down once dry.)

Congratulations Mat, your dog is also a cutie!
Awesome, job well done!!!Oh well can't hold it in! I've got 17+ chickies! 4 courtinix quail, 11 + Copper marans, 1+ brown leghorns, ( frizzle?) polish over barred Rock, and a mallard!
Take care of yourselfI just had 2 more hatch... I've got two more with pips that look like they may be starting to zip. The rest have done nothing yet, but after I had to help my little glued chick out, I did quickly candle 2 from my eggs and 1 of the mystery eggs and there are internal pips and movement, so I guess I'm still just waiting...
It's been a LONG couple of days... I did fall asleep on my couch from 1-4, but otherwise haven't really slept since Sunday night... Thankfully, I don't have to work o,or row. My stomach is not feeling the greatest... I'm hoping its from all the New Year's junk food...
I did move my hatched chicks (before the last two were hatched) to the brooder.. My glued chick was really drying with a hard crust, so I gave her a warm bath and put her back in the bator. She still dried off hard and crusty, so I took her out and gave her another bath and out her in the brooder with the others. She seems strong, so I'm hopeful she'll make it. The last two hatched without problem, so I'm not sure why she was glued....
This has been so much fun! So rewarding to witness new life enter the world, but exhausting at the same time... I'm not sure how you guys that have staggered hatches going on all the time can do this!!
LOL, can't rush these things! Congratulations!Went back to the bator to find 5 more pips!!! Haven't had a pip in well over 12 hours, now 5 within 1/2 hour! And 2 of them are in my up -to-this-point quiet Mystery swap eggs!!! Yay!!!
Welcome to Round 2 people!!
Oh, I'm sorry, but could they stll be ok? Bantam eggs, being smaller, could take up the heat quicker, causing them to hatch sooner???Not one of my Large Fowl eggs have hatched. Welsummers, BC Marans AND BLRW...not one. The Bantams hatched. Not sure what I did wrong here.
I bet you will! When I went to bed last night I had 2 BCM that had hatched...this morning there are 5 (I think). It's really hard to see in there. My early christmas present was a new brinsea cabinet incubator and when you put the lids on the hatching trays - its really hard to see!!!!
I still wasn't expecting anything at all until later today since they were set on the 12th at 8PM - so here's to hoping I still have a great hatch!!!
I hope it'll be ok!!!The newest little one hatching has an unusual beak. The bottom is longer than the top by a mm or two... Will it get better or worse as the chick grows? If it does get worse, is it still compatible with life??
Aw, I'm sorry, but maybe it's still early?I've had 2 hatched and 1 almost all the way zipped.
No other pips though.
So more than likely 3 out of 17 hatched.. I think its my incubatr, Therefor i am getting a hova-bator for my birthday.
Wow, I hope she stays as healthy as possible, and that meds can ease her painThanks. Nothing on eggs. Dog is MUCH better!! Vet says we are lucky to still have her…but be prepared. She is a 10 yr old Great Dane and can hardly support her back end.
Awesome!Don't give up!! I've had tins of pipping action just this morning... There are still a few that haven't pipped yet, but all the renewed action in there this morning hives me hope...
Mine did that and would have been fine had I left her alone, maybe just be sure the pip is big enough for her to get air! (mine ended up fine, but I exposed her to too much air and she couldn't finish on her own, so I had to assist.Oh no! I do have a pip...but it's at the wrong end..and I don't know when it happened!!!!!
Cool!![]()
My sentiments exactly. It's so nice to have like-minded folks to run to and share with!
You glued your chick in the corner?![]()
I would let it dry off and see if it improves ... their beaks are always growing so it may change.
Yay - how adorable! Hope you are feeling a little better. My slowpoke finally hatched this morning after having pipped early yesterday afternoon. Once it started to zip it was quick, but you could tell it was tired.

LOL, too cute!!!I have to offer an apology on behalf of my new chick to everyone who was watching him on my webcam after his pip yesterday. I waited and waited on him all day to start zipping, but had to give up at midnight and shut things down.
Then while I was brushing my teeth and getting ready for bed, my husband calls to me: "Honey, did you know the egg is almost done zipping?"
Frakkin' what?! Zipping in like, 10 minutes? What kind of mutant chickens does Whole Foods sell eggs from? When I looked at him, he wasn't even zipping correctly either. It looked like he got halfway around the egg, then just went "To heck with this, raaaaaaaaaaaaawr Godzilla time!", and just shattered the entire top half of the egg while I was watching.![]()
No worries though, he has received a stern lecture on how to properly hatch. He won't do it again, I promise.
Though it does seem that I do have to worry about other strange mutant behavior. Overnight he randomly divided, and we woke up to two chickens in the bator. Nevermind the empty shell, it's entirely his fault, I know it.
