the cat decided one of the chicks looked delicious but when he was about to swipe momma fought him and now he has a little blood on his head. I was too far away and couldnt get theere in time if she hadnt done something
This is a picture my brother sent me this morning. I used to have guinea at one time. Great watch dogs. We always knew when someone came up or something came around. Thought I would share photo.
I started my first batch of fermented feed last night!! I made the double buckets by drilling holes in one and seating them inside each other... One question... How much water do I put in?? Should it be covering the feed? All of the feed is wet, but there is no standing water in the top bucket. Do I need to add more?
I taught my NYD chicks how to drink from a bottle with a chicken nipple hanging from the top of the brooder! Yay!! No more icky water!!! Now I just have to make another one. One waterer for 20 chicks isn't enough...
I believe the water should be over the top. One person I read said 2" above the feed. I add water when the feed drinks it all up. Also, don't use too hot a water (you can use tepid to help the process along). Say good bye to clean chickens!! LOL. But I must say, I do believe I am saving 20% on feed doing this! Either not as much is being spilled or they really do get more nutrition out of it!

MY turkeys follow people around and make what I know are "get out of here" noises if I have people in the backyard. They charge if I am not there. last call to post GFF numbers, will be finalizing numbers in just a bit.
