Aw, I can't wait until I get a broody hen! None of mine have ever, and I have Cochins and had silkies

I also have cochins and they go broody all the time! I bet each of them go broody at least twice a year. This spring, I had 20 nesting boxes in the coop for my 26 hens. And every nesting box containted a broody hen, some contained 2. I think there was only 2 hens that weren't broody at the time. They drive me nuts sometimes.

GOOD NEWS - DH assured me he had seen the temp ok just a min or so b/f it spiked, so likely the 103F reading was just 1 min b/f cat was removed.
eggs should be fine, cat is banished from incubation rm until further notice!
& I now have an excuse to try to candle a couple of the 5 light colored eggs tonight.

Ugghh.. I gotta find an incubator anonymous group! I'm not even set to hatch this group out till the 1st and I'm already thinking of what is going in next.

I can't even keep up with building pens and shelters due to the weather (suddenly hoop coops are really nice).

You all have to stop posting cute chick, goose, duck and quail pictures! I'm wanting it all!

I did good!! In less than 6 hours I said NO to more hatching eggs!!! FREE!! smack me, for surely I am insane for NOT accepting!!

He is a bantam birchen cochin. He is really pretty but has some faults so not good for breeding. Thank you!

Tonight's game prizes will depend on the number of posts we get on bheps contest thread. If you hit 1000 remember you will be also posting where you looked and didn't find me. If we hit 1000 the prize will be 12 Auto-Sexing Breed hatching eggs LATE Spring/Summer from 4 different breeds.

If you don't hit 1000 we will use that prize again later and the prize will be Other Hatching Eggs and a BYC cookbook

You may start running the count up on that thread now by posting anything you want, sort of last night.
