DUCK INCUBATION questions......

Its now day 12 I think... should I be doing ANYTHING different at all than the chicken eggs in the bator??

I do dry hatch method.... keeping humidity 28% - 40 depending on weather and then I do 60-62% lockdown.

Should I be misting or cooling them or anything?????

PLEASE SOMEONE who can help me hatch these cute things I would sooooo appreciate it!!

Please Please Please, if you have not filled out the form on the first page of how many eggs you set, go do it.

Is anybody up for sending PM's to those who haven't filled it out?

Also, anybody want to count the eggs in the egg set thread to verify that I get the correct number?

Where your eggs shipped? It could be they where badly shook up and damaged the yolk. It saw on the incubating guild here while looking for an answer for you that a cloudy mass could be the growing embryo- so unless they stink, just leave them be. Check in 4-5 days if there is any change to the mass, or if the insides got darker.

It is hard to describe - I kept thinking my finger must be casting a shadow, or the flashlight was doing it, but no it was there in the egg from several angles.
In at least 3 eggs, slightly different shape/amt in each, a hazy area kinda globby looking, NO veins, nothing threadlike at all,
basically in the middle of each all the way across (holding w/ big end up, as in my bator).

we drove to get the eggs, 60 mile round trip, very careful (I got out and walked them up our gravel driveway),
& the guy even had the cartons marked for odd vs even which side he tilted them up on which day,
none older than 10 days, his birds looked really great, everything was clean and perfect looking w/ the birds,
only issue would be if Roo was being lazy otherwise I'm 99% confident in those 22 eggs being good.

My concern is that I DID see the tiny tiny spot w/ spidery veins in the one egg from my flock, so by contrast that dosen't bode well for these others :(

I'm terrible... I candled again today... Couldn't help it. I had been using an LED flashlight, but it didn't fit the eggs well, so it wouldn't seal off all of the light. Then I tried my cell phone light and that kind of worked, but not really well... So this morning, I brought my actual candler in, so of course I had to candle all of the eggs! I had 11 that were definitely developing and 7 that were questionable. The rest I either saw nothing or couldn't see becasue the eggs were too dark. Tonight when I got home, I re-candled all of the ones that were questionable and they are all definitely developing!!! So... my incubator status is...

Out of 45 eggs...
18 definitely developing
1 thrown out because of a crack which became a hole when it stuck to the turner
26 that I just can't tell yet...

Anyone want to take bets on whether or not I can get through tomorrow without candling??
