4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

Oh my gosh, I went back to take pictures of the eggs, and it looked like the frizzle egg was almost zipped, so I switched the camera to video, hit record, and just after that, he threw off the lid and took a tumble out! it was so fast and so amazing! First chick is hatched. What is really weird is that my incubator is quite large with only 3 eggs in there, and it went instantly from 68 percent humidity to 84 percent! I bet it's even higher now! Now lets see if he can encourage his hatch buddies to join him??!!!

I'm not going to go to bed until the upside down chick is out. Right now he seems to have energy, so I'll leave him be, but if it starts to look dry (because I opened the shell

) I'll work on him unless there is blood I feel good about him, I think he'll make it. It's so much healthier looking than my first 4 Seramas!

Thanks. I can't wait until it's done. I'll finish the grunt work tomorrow and then paint while I wait impatiently for my peeps to hatch!

I am hopeless on these threads so sorry if the answer is right in front of me and I am missing it but which time zone generally being referred to when none are listed? I am still celebrating whenever I manage to write a post without having it go somewhere strange and several times have managed to log myself off of the site so it would be a miracle if I actually could improve and actually post along with everything I have been following but I am having a really fantastic time and have my incubator on one bedside table and the laptop on the other...

I just love silkies. I can't wait until mine start laying so I can hatch some.

I think I've checked my incubator over 50 times today... All the stories of chicks hatching ... I REAALLY want to see something happening in there...

Think of it this way ... all those peeps with peeps hatching can't win the NYD hatch-along contest! Muah!

Oh my gosh, I've been obsessing over this one egg all this time, I hadn't noticed my Frizzled Serama egg has pipped! Big pip! YAAAAY, it seemed so quiet, I was starting to worry the other two were goners! LOL

Cute! I would love to have a frizzled Serama or frizzled anything!

Actually, the one that hatched out hat a snot line of yolk and that whitish stringy stuff that centers the yolk plus a bit of blood, but he had rolled over on his back and he looked fine, so I'm not worried. I hope he's encouraging the other two to hatch!
