The safety of it and lower electric usage is what I got it for. I will be using it with large fowl breeds this time.

Anyone here using the Brinsea Ecoglow brooder heater???

I've got one and have it set up to put my just hatched chicks in once the rest of the eggs are done. I set it up and put a thermometer under it. I have it on the lowest height and the temp under it is only 86°. Is that what other people are getting with them too?? Is that warm enough? I'm used to the 95° that you should set up for with the lamp.

I use one. It never occurred to me to check the temp underneath. I haven't had any issues.

I thought I was finished hatching, checked on the chicks drying in the incubator and one of the 3 remaining eggs has pipped.

I forgot to mention that a lot of people think they help with leg problems too. I have to say that I agree. I helped a chick out that had pipped at the bottom, and he had leg problems. 3 days under the ecoglow and the little guy was zipping along like he never had a problem. No braces, sitting in cups or anything!

Bye the was, the ecoglow has convinced me that we keep chicks way to hot with big old red lights.

I have read threads where people did not like them because the brooder did not go up to 95 degrees. In a 50 degree garage, the brooder will be well 50 degrees....It's funny to watch them zip under the ecoglow and the zip back out to get food and water. They soon stay out most of the time though.

really confused...
the egg that pipped last night... it seemed fine, and still hasn't hatched... went to check it, and candled to see where the air sack is (going through the side and all....) but there's something moving in there too.. . I can see the beak.... I'm not sure if it stuck it's foot through into the air sac, or what?

Lost my NYD hatched duckling in the night. I'm not sure it was eating.

I did get a new chicken chick out. Cornish cross baby. Hopefully my shipped eggs do well.

So sorry..a little duckling. When are your shipped eggs due to hatch? I have barnyard mixes due tomorrow. Also, my Nankin was due tomorro, but came early this morning..glad she did..now she will be a day ahead of the other big ones! Good luck on your shipped eggs. Will be interested in how they do. I want to get some, but I'm afraid of this cold weather. I mean cold! It's now only 1 degree out there!

Shipped eggs are due tomorrow as well. These are my second batch of shipped eggs. First batch was 40 coturnix eggs.... Got 11. Wait, I did have seramas shipped this winter too, all seven eggs shipped hatched. They're about two weeks old now.
