4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

Sally, keep an egg before FF started and after two weeks crack a new egg and the old egg..you will notice shell improvement, yolk improvement and color improvement.
Mom just "stole" my eggs yesterday!! 4 doz she grabbed!! silly mother what 2 people will do with that many eggs I havent a clue!! I get over a doz a day so far so its ok lol!

Chickens can get frozen bits out of a bowl if for some reason they are hungry. They are pretty strong. Usually you can asume if you have frozen FF, you are over feeding. I would reduce the amount and for Prim and her babys, feed 2x a day.
Thanks... I was hoping they could and would if they needed it. I do feed twice a day. I guess I'll cut back...

]Hey everyone! Hope everyone's chickys are growing as fast as mine!! Due to it being freezing here -10 celcuis at night, my chickys are still living in my basement. Having to expand their home every week to account for their growing!

X2!

Of course since I am half German, I will be marking the air cells on wonky ones now. I knew that I should do that but am also half Irish....Luckily I do not drink much alcohol....
German? Met too. My maiden name was Ruckdeschel. My dad's grandfather came over here on a ship, in a basket, as he was just a baby. :) Married an Indian woman. Not sure of the tribe..I should know! Hard to find.

Quote: The first Ottman came over in 1721 and settled in Upper New York. There are still some there, but my line broke off in the early 1800s and wound up in the Chicago area. My Grandfather lost it all in the Depression and move out to CA. My Dad is German and my Mom is German Irish. The Germans were Lutheran and the Irish were Catholics. The Lutherans are cold and Stoic and the Catholics are all hugs and kisses. I love them all though well most of them....

I was wondering what you all do to store feed and to get it into the food dishes and out of the big bags and into what you store it in.I use to use the blastic things of cat litter but Im trying to be more earth friendly and not use anything in plastic if I can help it so I use the left over large ones like the buckets for storeing stuff or putting water in to wash things ect but the smaller ones It took me a bit to come up with something. Now I store my chick feed in it . It makes it eayer to handle and pour then from those big bag. I also use a plastic milk just that has the bottom cut off as a sort of funnle.
My poor sick boy trying to help he loves pouring things anything lol he gave up after a few minutes his fever chills got the best of him.
This is what I use as a funnel
Little man in the process
Dont mind my messy kitchen I need to clean it but with my son sick for the past two days and me haveing a migrain for most of the last week it hasnt been geting the attention it needs .

So what kinds of stuff do you guys come up with to help with your bird chores?
