How are you dealing with the spurs? I have one rooster with 3 inch sprus, they are massive! He's not friendly but he's not mean either. He just always makes me nervous.

We're either going to file them back or saw part of them off. Which ever will take the least amount of time and cause the least amount of stress.

Any concerns with having eggs shipped during the holiday season? I would think there maybe a bit more frustrations with the postal workers and packages may not get treated as kindly as through out the rest of the year. Also maybe some delays in getting them where they're supposed to go.

Didn't get to participate last year, though did the two before and it was great fun!

Looking forward to this year. I won't have a ton of eggs as my girls are currently molting, but hoping for a small batch to play along.

Where in Mo are you located? I have a quad of mottled japanese I got a few weeks ago. They are over a year and laying age, but just coming out of molt so I haven't got eggs yet. If they lay in time I'd be happy to sell some. I also have mille fleur d'uccles, but they are still young and probably a month or two from fertile eggs yet.

I am looking to buy about a dozen, maybe two dozen eggs for the hatchalong - would like either salmon favorelles (lost my lone favorelle to a hawk the other day), Naked necks, something frizzled or jersey giants - non hatchery stock.. or maybe frizzled naked neck easter eggers with five toes? =) =)

We're up to 48 signed up!

Only 4 are signed up for the egg swap, though.

I think it is like the Hostess union, All the chickens went on strike.

With the exception of we won't get rid of our employee's.

I'd swap instead of buying but a) I would just have mutts and b) can't guarantee fertility because I have two roos for 60 hens and they are locked up a lot now due to predation - I am guessing I have a pretty low fertility rate right now. And I'd probably do a lousy job shipping to boot.
