We love and celebrate the 4th of July big time in San Diego, CA. While we are not zoned for fireworks where I live, we are a half mile away from a large golf club that puts on a huge celebration, about two miles from the bay which does the same, and on the other side, about three miles from another big site. We usually celebrate with a bar b que and friends at home then go upstairs on the roof or balcony to view all the sites without crowds, bringing the dogs inside. They don't like all the exploding and lights. The chicks are young, the 3 week olds I still bring in at night from the coop, and will do the same on the 4th. The older girls (will be 6 weeks old) will be in their upstairs roosting/nesting areas, totally protected. But will the noise be problematic?

Mine have never even reacted to the fireworks, and there used to be lots on my street.

My chickens do not seem to be affected by loud noises much at all.

You should try having horses.

Actually, my girls had their first free-ranging day on a Fourth of July. Didn't seem to care too much.

Now the dog . . . . whole other story
