I was HOPING a few others would see that also....I was lurking.

Refer to "Arrested Intelligence" and ask the question, "What country does the Queen Of England Rule?"

I know that the answer is supposed to be England and it is supposed to be funny because of the word England in the phrase. But the Queen of England doesn't actually rule, does she? She is a figure head. Technically, she doesn't rule anything. Right?

See, that it why those kind of jokes don't work with me. I take them all too literally. And 5 out of 4 is a mixed fraction. 5/4 = 1 1/4. I understand of course that there can not be five out of four people. But whenever my neighbor's son wears a shirt with this same slogan, people laugh and say that 5 out of 4 is not a fraction so that is why it is funny. Um it is funny cause you can't get five people out of four, not because 5/4 isn't a fraction

Really, I have been with him when someone said that.

My fourth grader came home last week working math problems that were "order of operations"..........PEMDAS "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally"
I couldn't believe they were learning PEMDAS in fourth grade! He loved it! Thought it was like solving a puzzle! Geesh, If only I could have had it that easy back then. For me, back when, it was like beating my head against a

The order of operations will prepare him to do algebra later.

I used Singapore math and it teaches algebraic concepts all through its program.

Sorry. I added to my post to explain further.

Of course, you can't take five out of four people That is why the joke should be funny.

But I have known people that take the same joke and explain it as 5/4 isn't a fraction, when it is.

The Queen of England does not rule. She is the Queen of England but she doesn't rule which is what the question asked. So, it is a nonsensical question. Unless someone British will conterdict me, she doesn't make laws or enforce them. She just takes tax money and serves as a symbol. So the answer to which country does the Queen of England rule, is none. She is a figurehead for Britan. I have heard that arrested development is a good show. But if the writers asked this with the intent of making fun of people who don't respond with an obvious answer of England, then the joke is turned on them.
