I gave away 5 chicks that I thought were males today. Did I manage to keep the right ones and save the females?? Here are pix of the 4 chicks I kept.

Im new but I read a post that said something about if their comb has the 3 bumps then its a good chance it is a roo I think your yellow one looks like 3 bumps?

oooh, Abbie is GORGEOUS!!!

lilcountry, I think the 3-bump thing for EEs (or other rose combs) is ridges side by side (lateral), not three serrated points standing up. Is that what you meant on the Buff Orp? They have different combs than EEs....... sorry if I misunderstood you.

I think they all look pretty girly. No pink showing up in the combs..... My 6-weekers look very similar and I am 99% sure they're all pullets. Pretty girls!! My Fatima (EE) looks a lot like Maggie.

They look like girls to me.

Do you still have your Barred Rock chicks?
They would be 4 weeks old now wouldn't they?
I'd love to see how they look to compare to mine.

I posted a thread on mine.

Thanks a lot for taking a look at these pix!

lilcountry...I think they mean 3 long lines (bumps) on a pea comb. My Buff Orp has a single comb. I hope I have that right!! I'm new to this again too! I had chickens a long time ago, in another life...but this is the first time in about 15 years I've had chickens again! I've forgotten everything!

SeaChick, thanks, I love Abbie too...she is one of my very faves! (Don't tell the others...haha) I sure hope she's a girl!!

Sweet_Peeps, thanks. I no longer have any BR's. I lost two of them early on. I have no idea why. It could have been eating shavings or that they just weren't ever very hardy. They just didn't thrive like the other chicks. I gave one away today...he was definitely a roo. He was 4 weeks old and had a red comb and red wattles already!! I found him a great home. I wanted to get more BR's today but they didn't have any of those at the farm store.

Anyone else have an idea if these are pullets?? I need LOTS of reassurance!!

You are totally right, they are all girls!! Yeah, and what beautiful ones too!! I love the variety of colors the EEs come in.

hinkjc and jeaucamom, I'm so glad both of you think they're girls!!

I've only had these chicks 5 weeks (well, and Amelia 4 weeks) but I've spent every single moment worried about which ones are roos and which are pullets. (No matter what, I can't have roos!) I've been so careful which ones I've gotten attached to. All three of these EE's are the sweetest babies and have been all along. I just love all their fluffy butts!!
