5 week old Maran-pullet or cockerel or too early still?

That BCM still looks like a girl to me. I've raised 6 or 7 of them and had one cockerel of that breed. He was a REALLY obvious boy by 8 or 9 weeks. The females always make me wonder with the early comb growth. I have a 6 week old that I go back and forth on every day right now. I'd actually kind of like mine to be a rooster this time, but it's probably a pullet.

Ok that makes me feel a lot better! Here are some more pics of my little Wednesday Addams I’m still trying out names for these chicks. The neck feathers appear pointy but when you look up close, they are rounded. The copper in the middle gives them that look. Also, the saddle feathers would be pointier and more waterfall like for a cockerel right?

Well everyone…we are at the 5 month mark and my Maran is a GIRL! She laid her first tiny dark brown egg exactly on her 5 month bday. We named her Fatty B. She is still loud and bossy but pretty funny and lets me pet her sometimes now.

Thats amazing! I've been waiting for my splash maran to lay she's 18 weeks right now.
