Oof.
He's 15 weeks old, so I've put a lot of time, $ & energy into him by this point.
Funny, I Knew I heard someone crowing the other day, but when I went to look for the culprit, they'd all gone silent, and I know on occasion, a hen will crow, so I didn't worry about it.
Now, my husband and I are considering keeping him (
We're not zoned for it, but a neighbor has one, as well) and using him to breed with our BCM hens, to see if we can get dark green, fertilized eggs. If it works, we'll probably keep him and sell the eggs (or chicks). If not, there are several local farms nearby that take roos (not for meat) that we could choose from to regime him. I just feel bad for the one PBE who'll be left in our flock without any siblings.
