OMG!

Something killed fifty chicks and chickens, a duck, and a juvenile turkey this morning at dawn. There are holes shredded into my aviary netting and it smells musty like skunk! Any ideas--what did this--how do I catch it( I have various ideas on how to kill it once I catch it) All but one of my meat birds are gone--they had about 2 weeks until I started processing....HELP!

Dog or dogs, my guess smell of skunk from one feeding on the dog kill. Could be family of raccoons. But 50 is alot even for coons, for sure not the skunk.

Had a dog kill 22 of my meat chicken in less than an hour!

There are a few preditors that kill indiscriminately just to kill, Coons are one and the worst in my opinion. hope thing work out for you.

A skunky smell can also be coyotes. I had a skunky smell going on and one day trapped a coyote and something had dug into a pen and killed chickens. After it was gone, the smell was gone.

Is the avian net over the run/coop?? If so how tall is the run/coop? If it is rather tall I would think family of coons....unless there is another way a dog could have got in.....so sorry for your loss.

ETA: there are a few critters that are musky smelling.
