Are you sure it isn’t algae instead of mold? We have well water that is prone to algae if it is even slightly warm.

I know this is a very late response, but I add 1 ounce of apple cider vinegar per gallon of water. This in itself prevents algae.

That doesn't matter....I'd rather see things that have been used for awhile.

How wide is the opening...going to guess 3-4"?
