It is official! I am adding some Millie Cochin Bantams to my flock! Fingers crossed that the eggs hatch. =) I love this!! Counting down to Christmas.... nah.... counting down to hatch day setting!

This is my 1 week old BCM from my very first hatch. That's her in my profile pic at 48 hours old, with her hatch sister, who sadly had to be put down. (And my dog and cat in the background, who still can't figure out why I have a bird in the house and why they can't eat it.)

Thankfully, she isn't alone, because we ordered 15 Buff Orpingtons to arrive a few days after the hatch.

I got her out for a health check, and she decided I was momma hen.

I love chicks, and I'm getting so excited!!!

Do you have chicken friends you could borrow an incubator from ?

I have a question re incubators.

Everyone suggests 70 degrees for the room the incubator is in. My poor old furnace is NOT gonna get this house reliably to 70 degrees no mater WHAT I do to it. I do have an inside (the most interior room in the house) closet that stays pretty stable at 60 degrees. Would this be sufficient or am I just out of luck? I'll take advice!
