5th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2014 Hatch-A-Long

I'm only getting 1 fertilized egg a day from the wyandottes, not much to hatch there.

Well, you can hold the fertilized eggs a few days - save a week's worth of eggs and then set them on the 11th?
Ditto you can save eggs for 10 days or longer, after 10 days the hatch rate goes down

Thanks Ron for the TJ egg idea!

I would still have to have them shipped to me but much better than subjecting good eggs to the cold and long distance shipping. I may still be able to join in here.

Your are welcome!

I am sorry that there are no closer sources for you. Thanks giving is a bit far off from setting on Dec. 11 but might work if you are going to Redding then. Papa Brooder may be able to ship some fertile eggs to you for a reasonable price. It is off season and he may have some of season deals if you contact him.

I can't wait either!

I've never hatched in the winter but how do collect eggs before they become too cold to set? It's gonna be really cold here this year during winter supposedly and I would like to participate but most of my eggs freeze in the winter, and that's from only being out there for a few hours. I have a 3 egg incubator so I don't need a lot but should I just wait for them to lay and get them right away?
