I bought three 6 month old CR's from someone local to me, and they gave me eggs for about a week or so. About two weeks later they started dropping feathers. Do any hens molt around 30 weeks old??

Are you completely sure they are 6-7 months old...?

That is precisely my question, celestialdreadmer.

I handled them today and there are definitely pin feathers. One is obviously missing feathers even from a distance. The guy I bought them from is adamant that they are now exactly 7 months and 1 week old. He texted me a photo of the invoice, but it is too blurry to read.

I've had a 9 month old molt too.
Could be stress from the move...or the guy might not be quite up to snuff.
Might just have to wait and see.
