6 month old leghorn pullet violently attacking me worse than rooster

She’s growing spurs (like a rooster.) I know hens have spurs too btw. And trying to mount her sister, and making noises I don’t typically hear from hens, and flogging my feet.
Maybe she has some damage to her reproductive system. But, does it really matter? Clearly it's not healthy for you or anyone else to live with this degree of aggressiveness. Very sad, but I would put her down as soon as possible.

Likely something damaged an ovary then or she's got a hormone imbalance. I've had a ton of hens crow and/ grow spurs and not one had male bits as well

Now she’s acting perfectly fine, following me around, getting in my lap. What the heck? She’s like a bi-polar chicken. She also doesn’t act this way to anyone else but me. (She’s neutral towards everyone but me.)

I would not let this chicken in my lap. That's seriously asking for an eye injury.

@Purelychicks

I certainly feel you. I had a female turkey who consistently tried to bite my chickens and fight our roo.

I was contemplating next steps... and the turkey got hit by a hawk. I had to cull her (in the killing sense). I had to use the broom handle method.

I am still not over it... it's been less than a week since I've had to do it. She was my first bird... meant quite a bit to me.

Having said that, if your bird continues... call around to your local veterinarians... many of them will euthanize these types of aggressive animals.

You do not want to wait until this bird causes severe damage to your body. You are getting hit in the face by this animal... that can cause you to lose an eye. Let me tell you as someone who almost lost an eye in a tractor accident... IT IS NOT WORTH IT! You are a human being, beautifully and wonderfully made... your body, life, and safety is not worth putting at risk for this animal. I love all of my chickens... but if they put my body, life, or safety (or the lives and safety of their fellow flock members) in danger... there is only one choice.

Human aggression should not be tolerated all
Absolutely. A roo... you know is going to be 'challenging' as they are territorial, and will often try to show you who is boss. BUT... if a roo decides that he wants to attack 'just because' ...then you have to either keep the bird in an enclosure 100% of the time, or cull it.

It is an absolutely horrible reality... but you will have more birds in the future. Later, when you do, you will thank yourself for doing your girl a favor. She can't possibly be happy when she is attacking you. Neither are you... and it just isn't safe.

Lot's of hugs going out to you!

Because I’m a softie.. I had to cull a malformed chick last week and I cried all day. Is it not weird this pullet used to sit in my lap and follow me around and now all of the sudden she hates me? Maybe I did something wrong? I noticed the cockerels housed with her and her friends have been pestering her all day trying to get her to mate. She just went from the sweetest chicken I’ve ever met, to the craziest. Should I get rid of a rooster?
I have had really sweet hand raised hens turn on me before... I have an Orphington hen that used to be the sweetest, sitting on my lap asking for scricthes and then she became a vicious biter... so maybe something to do with being used to people and not fearing them? I can still do whatever I want with her, just she will bite me, hard, first chance she gets. It happened after she started laying too. I always thought maybe it was attention seeking but I'm not sure.

This area looks sus, what do you all think?
