That info is great thanks! I tried to feel past all the fluff and it seems only 1 finger space but it might change if she is a she, hopefully ... You'd think by 6 months old it would be easy to tell!!

Aww too bad I was hoping it would be more definitive. I've never had a really tricky to sex silkie so I haven't had the chance to use the pubic bone method to sex but it comes in handy when you are trying to see if a pullet is laying or is close to laying.

By 6 months they should be easy (mine are usually pretty obvious by 4 months) but I guess there is a reason silkies have a reputation as being difficult to sex.

You could try DNA sexing her using birdiq.com, you send in a few feathers from around her vent, pay $10-15, wait a week or so, and then know her gender definiteavely.

Thanks but I was just hoping someone could tell me if he she was a he or she by pics. And since that can't be done I can just wait till I hear a crow -which should be soon since she is 6 months old! Or hopefully an egg!

Oh, #1 is 100% a pullet.
At 6 months, I would expect her to have prominent comb and wattles. No streamers, nice neat crest.

Aaaaand of course #2 is your cockerel.
No disputing there.

Oh really thats great!! I was worried her wattles are way too big for a pullet. I sold 4 out of 8 chicks when 8 weeks old and hoped I had sold the cockerels and kept the pullets so looks like I ended up with 1 cockerel and 3 pullets from that hatch which I'm happy with

I think she's a pullet

I added a picture of my pullet and as you can see her wattles are hanging and her comb is a bit bigger than my other silkie pullets. I too though she was a rooster until she laid a egg because she acted very roo like and her looks were boarderline.
