6 week old chick with a balloon crop

She doesn't have runny poop or bloody poop. She's still eating today. I made her vomit last night and grass and some savings came up. She hasn't been outside to eat grass since Sunday. There was quite a bit of food I there as well. Her crop is really stretched out. I've read that once it's stretched it probably won't go back and she will have pendulum crop and probably not make it. Any ideas?

How does one make a chicken throw up?
I'd like to know if case I ever need to do this.

Thanks!

There's videos on YouTube and the chicken chick talks about it. You hold them vertical face down and message the crop towards their face. You can do it very long though because they could breathe in the vomit and suffocate or get an infection in their lungs.

She's still hanging in there. I'm taking her to the vet. I'm not hopeful that they won't end up putting her down but I'll take her to make sure there isn't anything I can do or could of done.

Ok...will you please post an update as to what the vet says?

Thanks and good luck.

The vet said that she had a extreme bacterial infection. So she gets antibiotics for the next 10 days. She also said this doesn't mean she's out of the woods yet. Sometimes crop issues are a symptom of something else and not just the issue of the crop. Time will tell but I'm hoping this is the fix. I'm lucky to have a vet that is an expert on chickens here.

OH good! I hope she recovers quick.

What would cause a bacterial infection? Do you know?
