They're chickens, so yes, they should live relatively the same lives, however - They are slow growing and do get big, so keep in mind not to feed them too much protein, not to provide too high or too thin of perches, and not to give them too small of an area. They need room for their bones to grow, they need a broad perch to prevent the bending of the breast bone, and they need low perches to prevent breaking or straining of bones and tendons.
It isn't too strict to follow by though. I think any chicken breed needs plenty room and a decent diet, the Shamos only differ in that they need special care with the roosts because of their long legs. The protein levels in their food some say to have high, some say low. I myself offer them free choice to a variety of things. They roam around our place freely, so they eat whatever is around the yard (grass, fruit, bugs, shrubs, etc) but they also get a mixture of sunflower seeds, quinoa, millet, layer pellets, and oats.
