6 year old stuck in a balloon flying through the air

Did anyone see the exciting news conference that the Richard Heene held? Came outside with a box and told reporters to put questions in the box, which would be placed by the door of his house, and he would meet with them again later today. HA! If that isn't an attempt to control this latest 15 seconds of "fame", I don't know what is. What a joke!

Oh yeah, he wanted time to read the questions and come up with his answers... would not answer one question right then and there.

THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT...

Also, I forgot to add something about the police interviews with the family, etc..during and after the incidence.

What else can we expect law enforcement to say? They have to treat situations like this seriously, even if there is only a very small amount of evidence it is true. Doing anything different would open them up to liability and negative public scrutiny.

It is not like they are going to get on the news and say, "Oh, yeah, were pretty sure it is bogus, but we are looking for a boy in a balloon". or "The parents seem to be nutjobs and we thought it was totally fake, but we caused all this commotion anyway". LOL

Alot of this question comes up : Didn't they check the house already?

Well, little boys that I have known are GOOOOOOD hiders!

I had a family living with us and they had a 4 year old boy and OH DEAR LORD can that boy HIDE! After school, while me and the boy's mom were busy in the kitchen cooking and cleaning up, one of us will go back and forth checking on the kids watching cartoons (there were 4 kids from 2 to 6 years old plus my daughter that was only 4 months old). Well, ALOT of times we go to check on them, a little sneaker is MISSING! We would be looking from top to bottom, through everything for him but still cannot find him. Think of this, HIDEN IN PLAIN VIEW! The boy can hide in a corner, under the bed, or in the laundry room, balled up to a point where u cannot see any part of him but his clothes, makes u think ur seeing a pile of clothes. He is BARELY hiding! There was one time when ALL of us were home (even the dads), the dads were supposed to be watching the kids while us moms were doing laundry. That little boy vanished without a trace. We went looking for him for HOURS and couldn't find him. Sure enough, he was under the bed of his parent's room, balled up in between a whole bunch of other stuff under there.

OH boy, was his dad MAD! I dont think he was able to sit down comfortably for a while!

I was able to break his habit of hiding in strange places. I asked him why he hides, he says he's scared (he has problems mentally). I told him that there is a table next to the couch, that is the ONLY place he can hide. Sure enough, whenever he felt he needed to hide, he will hide right under that table and we always knew where to look and after a few weeks, he stopped hiding. After they moved out, from what I heard, he has started hiding all over again and once hid for 2 days while mom and dad couldn't find him. They called me up and asked me to help them out. It took them 2 days to find the boy, while it only took me a few minutes to find him, UNDER A TABLE NEXT TO THE COUCH.

Not to hijack the thread but that was a good solution to the problem McCord. Giving him a safe place to hide was brillant.

Interesting...
http://gawker.com/5383858/

I read the bottom link. The man was paid for his story so I am a bit wary, still interesting, if true.

I don't know. I am torn on this one. On one hand, it looks very much like this was a hoax. On the other hand, it isn't out of the realm of possiblity that a young boy could hide from his family because he thought he would get in trouble.

I have to give Neil Cauvuto(sp?) credit. I watched him while the story was breaking and he kept asking, "Are you sure that a child is in that balloon. It doesn't look like it could hold a child. Did anyone check the house thoroughly?"
