Hey, just got in my house, mom turned the bator on for me, but I never thought to ask her to take the eggs out of the fridge... Do They have to come up to room temp before I put them in the bator?

That's awesome...do you sell your chicks to a local grain/feed store, craigs list or a different venue?

Mostly Craigslist. My goal is to be NPIP this year and to look into selling more places. I currently sell only 2 kinds - Belgian d'Uccle (which have been very popular and I was selling them by the dozen - each time I hatched a dozen, they would sell all to the same person) and Easter Egger type mutts (they are a variety of crosses laying blue, green or pinkish eggs and having a variety of feather colors as well as some frizzle thrown in. The Easter Eggers sold well, but that was because I priced them rather inexpensive. I mostly hatched the EEs cause I just wanted to hatch and last year I was just hatching whatever I had. We are starting a home based urban farming business this next year, so I'm hoping to market them through that channel as well.

Omgosh! Finally set my eggs! Dh thought I was off my meds todayfor stressing over setting these eggs..so..he says looking at me sideways..How many chickens do you have now?? They're NOT CHICKENS!! and don't you tell everybody either!! I snapped back! He just chuckles and strolls over to the brooder to check on the silkies....66 eggs set. BBS pure ameraucana and assorted F1 easter eggers with a few F1 olive eggers

I set my Serama eggs at noon today and spent the rest of the day building my turkey coop and pen. Leave it to me to try to build stuff during a wind storm ; ) Looks like we are getting our Bourbon Reds tomorrow... 1 tom and 3 hens!!!

I was part of the Easter Hatchalong and used a very cheap and crazy incubator that I called the singing incubator from hell. Getting it to keep a temp was insanity and it hit 109 more than once even. Some how a few hatched despite it. I gave it away! Today I saw on amazon something that looked like it's twin, till I noticed it was about cooking eggs, not incubating them.... coincidence? LOL

Wine time is exactly two minutes after the eggs have been at temp for 3 hours. lol!

I had gotten mine on ebay too. I did get a refund for it however!
