Nice looking eggs!
You have really come a long way in a year!

Chicken Math?

Send me a pm with the total when you have it.

the chicken math hit me hard last year (my second year hatching). I hatched way more than I planner on, but it turned out okay. DH finally was okay with it because I sold well over 100 chicks. The deal was, I could hatch more if I sold them all. I actually had more demand than I had hatchlings. Near June I had to stop selling in order to broaden my own flock. DH is now entering enabler stage. I sold some of my layers I did not plan to breed or wasn't emotionally attached to and he actually encouraged the NY HAL participation. He didn't even blink when I showed him how many I set.

Our 4 mules have mud caked on them. And when the farrier comes, it is an hour prep, getting the mud out of the hooves and them standing on something dry mud out of the hooves and them standing on something dry!
Here is our hog & dog in the mud.

I have 5 slow pokes still in the incubator, taking their sweet time! So we might set a bit later in the day. Maybe I will find more fresh eggs in the barn to add

.

I found 2 of the RIR eggs are cracked. I put a cost of fingernail polish over just that area. I wonder if that ever works

I had 2 eggs that were cracked earlier this year in a shipment. I use wax not finger nail polish 1 hatched 1 didn't

Just set 7 under our two broody hens (a Silkie and an Orpington) sharing one large nest box. The Orpington has been broody for about a week now so I hope she will stay on them. The eggs are mostly barnyard mixes with one from a Silkie hen and one from an Easter Egger hen. This is my first time hatching eggs.

That's awesome...do you sell your chicks to a local grain/feed store, craigs list or a different venue?
