(Sandia Mountains from Corrales, 12-16-14) They say artists flock to New Mexico because the light is so inspirationally good. This view caught my eye, just wish the camera caught the shadows better. Okay. Y'all can go back to trying not to candle......

Well, I know it's too late to be in this. But I have enjoyed reading and chatting with everybody. And I'm not going to stop because I've got EGGS coming in tomorrow. They will be set too late but who cares. I'm just joining the fun.

Ha! That was great..I played them both together, I agree with Dish, the top one has the best voice.

The top one is Chester and the bottom one is Marcus. I love Chester's deep voice but Marcus is too cute. He's only been practicing for about a week too whereas Chester has had months to practice haha

I know right? I even bought one of those rooster collars that is supposed to help tone down the sound. Didn't work on my silkie, figured it wouldn't work on a LF. :/

Have you heard about de-crowing surgery? I was reading a thread about it recently and it sounds like it works really well...if you can find a knowledgeable vet.

This is my roo from him. He has been great so far! We have neighbors close, so can't really have a loud roo.

I have a friend that had that done on a couple of hers. Worked better on some than others, then, some didn't make it. Another friend bought one of hers, she put on the collar also. It did tone it down more so.

I've never shipped eggs but if you are interested in LF bbs orps or Buff Brahmas I'd send you some. I've received shipped eggs so I think I can pack them fine just haven't been through the shipping process.

On a personal and somewhat sappy and pretty serious note: I've been a member of BYC for a very long time but until this HAL, I rarely posted in here. I usually just used the site for research and opinions. Now, I am sorry that I didn't become a more active participant sooner. The camaraderie is great! If I could only join one club in my life, (besides a Christian club), it would definitely be this one! Thank you all for making this enjoyable and for creating an environment that is positive, fun and educational!

Oh and @bamadude , you can keep the used tobacco since at this point I'm sure I'll have the worst hatch rate.

Me too! I just smell em. But never EVER in front of non chicken people.

Smell them? What kind of smell would I want to have?...well the eggs I mean not me personally.
So I handled yesterday, after reading more posts I'm a little freaked out I hurt my eggs. Will they be okay even though I candled? I was gentle.
I can see nothing...the egg shells are too dark. How else can I check to make sure they are ok?
