So something aweful happened friday night. The breaker tripped that the incubator was on(no idea why) so the incubator was off while i was asleep, it also tripped the furnace so the house got cold on top of that, when i woke up the thermometer in the bator said 55F and the eggs were cold. I know the bator was off more then 3.5hrs cause the day counter didnt trip until some time after 2am last night when i couldnt stay up any longer. So i am waiting until tonight and hoping i see more veins growing in there then i did when i candled friday night. i so hope i didnt kill them all because they were doing so good even the shipped muscovy eggs.
I hope they are okay!

My incubator was off for something between 3 and 8 hours last night. Eeep! Mine were doing well, too: 8 of 8 shipped Marans eggs had development.

I installed a new 20 amp circuit in my garage last weekend because I kept tripping the breaker. The garage circuit had a heater, the bator, the greenhouse, the coop, a freezer, a fridge and all the Christmas lights. You could say it had a bit of a load on it. I moved the heater, freezer, fridge, and coop to the new circuit and left the rest on the original 15 amp circuit. I haven't had any more tripping issues.

I'm with Ron again, should be fine..This happened to a friend of mine. First time hatching, power went out during the night..she was into the 2nd week, she threw them out! She thought for sure they were just gone. I told her to go get them! Ha..she went out and got them from the garbage and put them back in .. this was hrs. later of course. Guess what? She had a great hatch.
Wow! That's amazing! I'm feeling much better about mine, now.

Wish I had a dog... and some goats... and some ducks. Hopefully I'll be getting some hatching duck eggs to hatch from my neighbor
Where did u find the red orps?
@Papa Brooder has them -I'm really lucky that he is close (1 1/2 hours) that they didn't have to be shipped; sooo

that they all hatch!

Treating them like fragile treasures, I have been sitting on my hands NOT to candle the marans eggs set on the 13th with the late BLRW, but today was the day. Of the BLRW, I had three clear and 1 blood ring to chuck today. Of the 7 marans I had three that definitely weren't clear, but not veiny either and 4 little jumpy embryos! There are 2 definite black-eyed bobbers in the BLRW.

I also chucked 1 farmers market egg (brown) for being a clear. The 12 remaining Ameraucana/EE eggs are too darn hard to see inside for any veins, but the air cells are diminishing and they don't look beacon clear, so we'll see. There is one farmers market egg (brown, an Ameraucana/RIR) that has an occupant that's very visible and active.

So out of 41 started, I'm down to 26; 13 in each incubator. Now I'll just sit on my hands for another week.
Hope they all hatch for you!

Happy Solstice everyone!!

Longer days = happiness!

After a HUGE rain yesterday, half my chickens look like drowned rats...
Happy Solstice! I hope we get a (quick) break in the rain this week; me and the chickens could use a little time to dry out.

My landlord is a woodworker and had a workshop here on the land so he creates tons of wood shavings! Today I found huge bins full so at least I can save the birds from being muddy too.
