Nice, good luck with your hatch. I crossed a splash frizzled silkie roo with a blue/green egg EE hen(she's gorgeous) ... which i have 7 eggs in the bator now(got a new havor-bator).... and i have been collecting more eggs for another go around(i do have fertile eggs of this mix right now). I have other breed laying hens and I have a pure bearded silkies too. What mix are you interested in? It'd be funny if i have what you are looking for... I have never shipped, but i could research it /youtube, and it sounds like you have experience with shipped eggs too. My silkie girls are raising chicks right now , but will be laying again soon...in the future when all my hens are laying again i will have lot's of eggs and i plan on experimenting with other crosses :)

A very Merry Christmas to all!

I made a batch of the eggnog last night. It was so smooth and creamy...hard not to overdose. DH is still sleeping it off, so have had a chance to straighten up my little clutter messes before company comes over tonight for dinner.

I moved the one Araucana/RIR viable farmers market egg into the Brinsea. I have a horrid feeling the other farmers market eggs are nada, but don't have the heart to do a sacrificial eggtopsy on Christmas Day. They just don't look candle/shadow-wise as dense as my live eggs. Oh, well....

Coop chickens got a treat of fresh corn on the cob with their breakfast this morning. The integration of the TJ and CCL into the month-older flock is going pretty well. No lost feathers or blood, but the bigger girls are definitely hefting themselves about. The two younger birds either hide in the nest boxes or go up to the roost (where there's food and water), the area where their get-acquainted cage was located. The bigger birds will walk up the ramp to the roost, look around, maybe give a peck, and walk back down. There's less fuss if they've all had an early breakfast. Still waiting on eggs.

May you all have peace and joy on this splendid holiday!

Must watch to the end..yes you must, I love the eyes..lol..

Hope everyone has had a wonderful morning, and has a great day. We got out snow!!!! Yaay, after so much rain, and it's just how we like it.
You can't see it, but it is still coming down...softly. :D The chickens will not come out into the yard..of course!

Took a close up of a fence across the street to show how the snow is falling.
I know a lot of you have had it for a while, but this is really different to not have
snow, until Christmas Day!

My little Dachshund doesn't care for it much.. but.............

My Golden loves it!! Ha..

She knows not to come into the coop/run..

Actually, that's very close to what these were! They were frizzle ameraucana/silkie! I'm looking for blue egg layers. I have some projects I want to work on.

My most successful shipped eggs have been packed so that the big end is "up". The packing material doesn't seem to make a difference, but the packing style seems to be the important part. Double boxed, or double layered, seems to be the best way, so that the eggs are in the center. Bubble wrap alone isn't enough.

So I have a friend....
Who am I kidding? It's me, swore I wouldn't put anymore duck eggs in the incubator....
I put in ten...... I wonder if there is a 12 step program???
