I am eyeing some silver wnyandotte eggs....how bad of an idea to have em shipped all the way from east coast to here would it be hrmmmmm................think I wait until see if these hatch

The biggest factor is often the distance to and from the air port that is used for the flight. Some hubs and USPS service centers seem worse for eggs. Atlanta is terrible!
are there signs with the egg that can show if they are over humdified? does water collect in the air cell? do the eggs sweat?

moisture on the view plate is a sign that humidity is too high.

Had to post one more picture because I feel like I hit the chicken lottery! The newest chick is a naked neck! Earlier this year I lost one of my two naked necks to an impacted egg and I was so sad. Of course she was my favorite. My 2nd had just started laying when I set these eggs to hatch and since they all use the same nest I wasn't sure if any of hers were in this batch. But now I guess I know. I feel very excited and fortunate!

The naked neck looks awesome!

I am excited to go home and play with my vinegar eggs. Most of the shell had dissolved in just a day so they should be good to view tonight. And I need to get M brooder set up. Feeders and such still need sanitizing.

there should be a set size? is this internal or external pipping?

It is a combination of the pip size, wetness of the egg, humidity and time to hatch from the pip. Sometimes they will start zipping to get out and get stuck.

I give them a lot of time now and thy usually make it out. You need to watch the membrane and if it looks brown and dry you may need to assist them.

Sitting here wondering what and how many chicks I'll have hatch. I always get anxiuos on day 18\19. Most oif the times they start hatching on day 19, so I may get some by the time I get home from work tomorrow. Gonna have an early day tomorrow 5:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Fingers crossed.
