6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

LL

What a great bunch, love all of the different colors. I see blue. :D

Well, he's been in with the others for more than 24 hours and while he is easy to pick out, they're not picking on him - though he gets run over a lot - and he's trying to keep up/imitate them! Maybe he'll pull through after all... it took about half a dozen attempts to integrate him before it "worked," and I am SO GLAD they're all together!!!

He has been dubbed "Mouth" by my 10 yo son, lol.
Is this the one that had the splayed leg? lol..I remember I've had a couple out in the yard that I called ~ Mouth.

Well everyone has done their tally, well I only got 8 out of 42 eggs, not a good total. I am very disappointed. Hopefully I will have better luck next time.

Cute! Looks like a barred rock up front. Hey, you have some babies, 8 is a lot to me. :)

What am I going to do with this one? (S)he needs a pet home. Anyone?

This makes me sad to see..not sure it can even be a pet..has anyone ever kept a chick with wry neck this bad before? Any suggestions? I had one come in the mail to me earlier this year..it was this bad. I worked with it for a while, and I just couldn't see any improvement. :/
What a doll face this little one has.

He can straighten it out. It's much better than before. He eats, can get up and walk around. Sometimes he flips over, but gets up on his own. If I wasn't seeing improvement, I'd cull him. I should have anyway, but...I need to harden up a bit. I may have to ask someone to cull this one for me if it comes to that. I tend to get attached to the underdogs. It's probably why I'm fairly hands off my young birds. Sigh.

Of the ten we set, only two hatched, only one survived.
A third egg had development but quite. The rest were just clear and no development at all. The little babe is sweet and likes spending time with people and hiding in hair.

Aw wish I could take him.
