6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

I am going to use a still air..and I actually will be using the same thing. I keep my bator in the mid 30's during incubation. I kick it up to 62% or a bit higher during lock down. Everyone will find, that this may, or may not be the right temp/humidity for them! I hear different folks doing different things. I've hatched for yrs. This is what works for me. Go with what you are hearing works for folks in your area..where you live...state? I really believe this makes a difference, and, the room you have the bator in. Practice makes perfect? Nah! These eggs aren't under the perfect incubator. We are doing our best to get this right. Shipped eggs are always a gamble..we've all heard it, some know it better than others. I've just said where I keep my temps and humidity. Do I get the same results with shipped eggs every time> No! :D

But..having said all of that....lol....I just have fun and hope for the best, and get excited when that first little one hatches. It's been a few months since I've hatched. I can't wait! I have some eggs coming..shipped, and I have two friends that are collecting from their chickens. Will be interesting to see how this goes. Are allll of the roosters doing their job? The ordered eggs fertile..the friends eggs fertile?

Gilchicken does not have her eggs in the incubator yet. I should have been more specific with my statement. Sorry if I misled anyone.

It is fine! I do not usually pay attention to what thermometers say in pictures since the lid is off then and the temps drop quickly.

Are you in the hatch a long?

I have my temp at 101 and humidity around 45%. My chicks usually hatch a day sometimes 2 days early but If I don't keep mine at 101 and go for lower it's a paint to keep it at 98.5. It always drops down to low.
Are you joining the hatch a long?

I'm relatively new to the site and definitely new to posting but I'm in! This will be my 3rd hatch from a coolerbator I built in October.

So I found a Muscovy sitting on 14 eggs last night. None have any veining yet, so either they aren't fertile or she just started sitting. Gonna steal some and put them in one of the bators. Probably won't get them to hatch on the first, but maybe, lol.

Btw, for this occasion, I am setting crosses between;

Australorp > Barred Plymouth Rocks
Australorp > Rhode Island Reds
Australorp > Ameracaunas
Australorp > Ameracauna/Rhode Island Reds
Australorp > Ameracauna/Barred Plymouth Rocks

Anyone care to guess what breed my rooster is? lol
