I'm relatively new to the site and definitely new to posting but I'm in! This will be my 3rd hatch from a coolerbator I built in October.

Btw, for this occasion, I am setting crosses between;

Australorp > Barred Plymouth Rocks
Australorp > Rhode Island Reds
Australorp > Ameracaunas
Australorp > Ameracauna/Rhode Island Reds

I've got the same hygrometer, works great! Unfortunatly the Spot Check "isn't compatable with the Octagon Eco 20" which sucks so I average between the glass thermometer and the temp on the hygrometer.

Hey! Welcome aboard!!! There is also a $50.00 signup fee to umm...cover expenses...yeah, that's it! It's definitely not to cover the penalty I will be incurring for setting eggs early or anything like that.

Nah, seriously, it's free and there's no penalty for those who are stricken with impatience, though setting early defeats the whole spirit of the hatch-a-long. lol

We usually do have a prize for worst hatch. It is part of the best hatch so will be for egg set to hatch on Dec. 31st.

Oaky....so I am getting my incubator on Wednesday so I cant wait!! Have started to collect eggs now!!!

The probe for the spot check goes down into the vent on my Brinsea Octagon 40. I do not leave it in all the time--I just use it to verify the temps. The Brinsea is so stable that I do not worry about it.

It is a good idea for shipped eggs. It is a preference for local not shipped eggs.
