I hope they hatch for you!

Getting so excited for the set date!!! I'm starting to collect eggs for the H-A-L today. I was only gonna do a couple but I was talking to a guy at work and he wants some of them so now I can set a lot more. He is gonna take as many as I wanna give up. I told my youngest daughter and she said he can't have any! They must be teaching chicken math at her school lol

It was a joke!

The egg cannot be incubated if it is cracked open. The egg can be incubated for three to five days and candle it to see if it is fertile. After the rooster has been with them for two weeks, just run a test hatch.

Okay, that's what I thought but the looks on their faces when they were talking about it seemed so serious that I thought maybe there was some secret. After all, I've read that if you accidentally crack an egg, you can use clear nail polish, super glue or some other strong adhesive to mend the crack and still get it to hatch.

If I can not risk the eggs by cracking them, then I just put them in the incubator. I'm not opposed to candling the whole chicken, I just don't have a big enough flashlight.

Just out of curiosity, shouldn't we set them at midnight on the 10th so they'll hatch around midnight for the New Year? I mean, that we, we could peep in the new year, right? :) Just a thought.
