I am on the flip side... my Light Brahma eggs were supposed to arrive between the 6th and the 10th; they came today!!! That's going to be quite a wait before setting them!

Glad the wait isn't too long! Just keep turning those babies and you will be right as rain!

I will be collecting some silkie eggs for the hatch-a-long! A friend of mine will be giving me a bunch tomorrow! I am so eggcited!

That's what I am hoping for too..that she can get them to me in time. Some silkies and some other mixes from a friend. The Silkie eggs will have to be shipped.

I am thankful that my friend only lives in the next city, about 30 min away. I have the mixed breed eggs. Also some quail which will be placed 5 days after the chicken eggs!

. hehehe I'm officially in! There was a slight mixup with my bator and it came with the wrong fan kit (they are sending the right one) so this time will be a still air trial and the next hatch will be a forced air trial. This will be my first time hatching and my second time raising chicks...the first batch will be 14 weeks old on Sunday. I collected 3 good eggs today and got my first ever egg with speckles. Should I be worried about them or is it normal for hens to occasionally lay speckled eggs? I just built new nest boxes today so hopefully all the eggs will be clean/unbroken from now on. My hens are Red Sex-Links and my roo is a hatchery RIR.

It is completely normal to get speckled eggs. The pullet that lays that egg will usually lay an egg that looks like that each time.

The variety of colors shapes and sizes of backyard eggs is amazing!
