6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

Well it is unclear if I am going to be able to participate...my eggs are MIA. USPS has no clue where they are. They shipped on Monday from Arkansas and have not updated since.


I'm so bummed. I guess my first time hatching will be postponed to a later date.

The last time USPS tracking had mine marked as delivered it only took two calls to the Postmaster & 4 hours for them to be found sitting on a shelf at the post office.

I called this morning for just that reason, had a phone call telling me early this morning that I had a box..I said, I'm expecting 2. He said they would watch. No call, so I called again on our way so they could do a quick sweep of our postal person...nope.

Haha ik! Im hatching two on christmas and i may gi to my breeder to pick up some chicks...so im not sure. Im expecting exibition eggs to hatch around febuary so i dont want too many chicks before then...

Man, we had the wind! Pretty good micro bursts going on. I worry about power outage when it's like that. :/ It's finally slowed down. One of my girls was just a talkin about it.

The wind peaked at about 10:00am today--Gusts about 40mph. North of us, up by Clearlake, winds were in the 80 to 90 range in the mountains there.

California has several mountain ranges. The Sierra Nevadas end and become the Cascades on the Eastern boarder. The Coast range mountains are on the West boarder. South we have the San Gabriel mt.s and other ranges too. There was a place in the Coast range mountains today that had gusts of 100mph!

It was 2 boxes both marked call for pick up. One was put on the truck for delivery, the other sat on shelf till I forced them to find it.
Never got a call, when they finally found the second box they made the screw up deliver it personally with there car.

Anyone setting Ameraucana or Welsummer eggs, please let me know. I might be interested in some of them when they hatch. Also buff or rouen ducks. I have some nice looking RIR (4 hens& 2 roos) that Id be willing to trade or sell.

I have a box out too...still have tomorrow and Sat..and you can participate just as well. Your babies will just be a couple of days late...or, maybe a couple will hatch early...who knows. But my guess is we get our box's tomorrow. Mine was also shipped on Mon. Last scan, was in the same state they were coming from. :/

I hope so! Fingers crossed for both of us.

This is my fear, that they will sit there undelivered. The staff at my local PO is less then helpful. I stopped in this afternoon and I plan on stopping there tomorrow too to provide a little motivation.
