6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

I just realized that I still have to wrap the duck pen in netting and create a partition to keep the babies out of the pond and I only have TWO AND A HALF WEEKS!!!

one weekend of which will be taken up by driving my son to California. Time flies when you are having fun.

I have 12 that look to be going strong and 4 that are looking to be duds. two of the four are kinda porous. Thought about not setting them but had high hopes that they would develop. Super excited to be hatching again.

I candled my Silkie eggs, too, and they looked like this, but my phone camera is not that good. They look more developed than the standard eggs. I have Silkie eggs and standard eggs in the same incubator. I didn't think about it until just now, but do Silkie eggs take less time to hatch? I read somewhere that bantams have a shorter incubation time. Is that correct?

I hatch silkies before they hatch at 21 days. But when I hatch seramas they hatch 18,19 days I wasn't expecting that one lol

I sent some of my blue copper eggs to the Knoxville show in Tennessee . I was surprised to get these In the mail today. A second place with one and a third place with another . Our first time entering an egg show.

did you take any pictures before you sent the eggs? I would love to see what prize winning eggs look like.
Congratulations.....

Whew! That took a long time to read through all the new posts from since I looked last night!! LOL

Excited to hatch along side you all. Interested to hear about the phone light candling idea. I might try it out myself :)

I am loving that egg carton Christmas tree, how cool!

Congrats on the ribbons Michaelf. Those certainly are beautiful eggs.
